1,000 Feet of Ahhhhhh's

So I won tickets on My 99.9 radio to go to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, and also bought some a year ago to show my daughter's friend back in Massachusetts, but she ended up leaving Colorado 3 days too early.

I had a total of 8 Tickets, gave 5 to my sister and 2 to my friends Holly and Ron. My folks also had 2, and Holly and Ron had 2 from earlier... That's uh... 8 - 5 - 2......and another 2, + 2....... = uh, well.... too Many!!!!

2 days and no heat wave, we decided that....
My folks, 4 friend's and I were going to Canon City (pronounced Canyon).

Here are the Park attractions.....

Incline R.R.
Mom and I rode the Blue car down, kinda tight squeeze,
and not a lot of viewing w/ tall people in front of you.
To the bottom here is where the Incline R.R. takes you....

The Sky Coaster....
1 to 3 People
+  who knows how high you get pulled up =

The pair of green pants... w/ nobody inside em.....

Wonderful weekend!!!!! I volunteered at NLC helping pack food for orphans. What a Great Feeling! 1,720 were helped just at my small table.

Next day I saw Ross Parsley as the guest speaker while our pastor is recovering from surgery. Ahhhh, I could listen to him all day.

Dinner at my parents.... BBQ chicken and grilled potatoes in a pouch. Mmmmm

Too bad it was 97 degrees, so I didn't feel like going home....time to go get lost me thinks! Puppy was doing his own thing at Garden of the Gods.... so its Me, Myself and I this trip!

Started in Rockrimmon.... Boring, Then Blodgett Peak... no wildlife out yet, Hmmm where to???

Down to Black Forest area (yes again) but towards Peyton......

Welcome to Elbert!

Then I went down a few side streets in  Black Forest and found him... he was camera shy:

I returned home and before I got home... I found a realistic version of my favorite Dr. Seuss story "What was I afraid of." in the Book "Sneetches and Other Stories..."

Look:
Just Plain Weird....don't ya think??????
(This homeowner stiffened a couple pairs of Army pants... and "posted" them outside)

Thanks for riding shotgun... see ya next week!

Not done yet obviously.....

So I didn't give up Phlogging (photo Blogging... my new word) as you can see.
I had withdrawals... and the puppy did too!

I took off w/ another destination, but...... again I didn't plan well.

I looked up historical structures on a cool site: Waymarking, sites and coordinates.

I read about a cool reformed Train depot in Castle Rock, so off I went. 4PM.

Found my way to Castlerock, CO and instantly had trouble. I came into town the wrong way so I never found the street I needed to be on. I had to turn around about a dozen times. 1st st.....2nd st.....3rd...4th...5th...ahh ok... now where is Elbert St off Fifth????

Saw 2 long trains cross my path, and tons of posh lil shopping areas. But no Elbert St. and no locals know what I am talking about.

I did see this though.....

Weird huh????

and this also.....

ok, after 1 hour in a 10 minute long area, I make my way back home.....discouraged.

Took a longer way home... and found this....

Pretty sweet...
but too bad I couldn't drive up to it... this was captured by my 300mm zoom lens.

I got off the main roads, and he was there to greet me....

How are you??

Ok, so today sucked, but I plan to go back w/ a map/GPS/tour guide.... anything to get me to Elbert St.
